Learning Outcomes (knowledge, aptitudes and skills to be developed by the students)

Understanding the fundamental concepts associated with digital audio, with emphasis on signal quantification, sampling theorem, CD format and characteristics, A / D and D / A conversion processes, transmission of digital audio signals and errors in digital systems.

Syllabus:

History of digital audio; Number bases; Logic gates and families; Nyquist frequency and sampling theorem; Quantization and quantization noise; CD - format and features; A / D and D / A converters; Sigma-delta converters, quantization noise and noise shaping; Digital audio data transmission; Characteristics and errors of digital systems: noise and saturation, linearity, latency, jitter; Test of digital audio equipment.

Demonstration of the Articulation of the Programme Contents with the Objectives of the C.U.

Since the objective of this C.U. is the acquisition of knowledge and skills so that the student can intervene in a variety of artistic and musical contexts, the syllabus indicated is selected in order to meet the scope of the issues involved.

Teaching and Evaluation Methods:

The teaching methodology is based on systematic and organized presentation of information through questioning, critical analysis and research suggested by the teacher, complemented with its study and discussion, and with guidance and supervision of the knowledge and skills acquisition process, as specified in the C.U. objectives - The evaluation process is based on observation of the quality of participation in the activities developed during the course, including presentations and discussion of assignments, other tests or exams, verifying the level of the acquired knowledge and skills as specified in the C.U. objectives

Demonstration of the Articulation of the Teaching Methodologies with the Learning Objectives of the C.U.:

The coherence between the teaching methodologies with the learning objectives is assessed and demonstrated by the very nature of the performance and progress of students in classes, presentations, papers and tests.
