Learning Outcomes (knowledge, aptitudes and skills to be developed by the students)

Melhorar a preparação anterior dos estudantes na área da Matemática em diversas matérias necessárias ao desenvolvimento das UCs, da área científica, onde a matemática é essencial.

Syllabus:

Review of the basic Mathematical Language, sets and functions. Sets of rational and real whole natural numbers. Complex numbers. Limits of successions and functions. Limits and continuity of real functions of real variable. Derivatives, integration and primitivation. Algebra; Exponents and radicals; Linear equations; Functions and graphs; Systems of simultaneous equations; Quadratic equations; Polynomial Functions; Binomial theorem; Permutations and combinations; Trigonometry; Exponential and logarithmic functions; Vectors; Triangles; Analytical geometry of 1st and 2nd grade; Arithmetic and geometric series; Complex Numbers; Coordinate transformation; Parametric equations; Matrices; Determinants

Demonstration of the Articulation of the Programme Contents with the Objectives of the C.U.

Since the objective of the UC the acquisition of knowledge and competences so that the student can intervene in a diversity of contexts, the indicated program contents are selected in order to fill the scope of the subjects involved from the point of view of the mathematical formation to approach the other UCs that need solid skills in the field.

Teaching and Evaluation Methods:

The teaching methodology is based on systematic and organized presentation of information by the teacher, complemented with its study and the approach to the exercises and activities realized in class, as specified in the C.U. objectives. The evaluation process is based on observation of the quality of participation in the activities developed during the classes, including classroom works, tests or exams, verifying the level of the acquired knowledge and skills as specified in the C.U. objectives. Group class. CONTINUOUS EVALUATION AF = T1x0.5 + T2x0.5 AF Final Assessment, T1 Test 1, T2 Test 2. Maximum absences to be proficient in continuous assessment: 3 (except student workers). Students who have not completed the Continuous Assessment or fail due to absences may present the Exam in the Normal Season and if they fail, they may still be present at the Appeal Time. Students who have failed the Continuous Assessment may take the Exam only at the Appeal Time.

Demonstration of the Articulation of the Teaching Methodologies with the Learning Objectives of the C.U.:

The coherence between the teaching methodologies with the learning objectives is assessed and demonstrated by the very nature of the performance and progress of students in classes, presentations, papers and exams and by the best use in the approach to other UCs where mathematics is fundamental.
